I think most good beauticians in Hong Kong do lash extensions... try places in TST. Just walk into the first one u see.. enquire and if they don't do it then ask where u could find one.. Or I would look in the yellow pages for beauticians and call a few places to find out if they do them. The long, thick ones you mentioned don't sound right. Usually lash extensions aren't so heavy looking - maybe they were fake glued on ones?

Those eyelash extensions are supposed to last close to 3 months but you can't rub your eyes to vigorously and you have to take it easy when you wash around the eye area. You can get them in natural colors or colors like dark purple which looks surpringly good because you can't see the color except when the person turns their head sideways. Let us know if you find a good place and how much they charge in HK. In China, my friend had it down for 50 HKD and it looked great.

I've heard people say that they have to wear goggles to wash their hair because the eyes will be very painful, I wonder why. Found a Cozyzone for such extension and they charge $380, anybody heard of this beauty salon?

They look very good... but my friend had it done and she said it was painful to wash or to sleep!she had to sleep on her back and could not wait to have them taken out

Can anyone explain why it these eyelash extensions are painful?
(I am based in Hong Kong)
Posted by nina2005 (1043 days ago)
they are painfull becayuse a lot of salon use bad glue, the one which is intended to be used on cars, not people, so it causes eye irritation from fumes. We use only glue which is safe on human, doesnot have fumes. We get it from USA, they have stricter standarts for what goes on human skin. you can go on to www.lashextensions.com for the glue for your salon.
ask salon at which you plan to go get the fumeless glue! you dont have to go to US to get it, I am sure there are manufaturer in HK to do it.
i think as a customers we have to make a stand and ask that salons dont opt for cheap dangerous glue!

nina where are you and can we just do lash extension ourselves with the kit without attending a course?

I did it once and didntlike it.. Althought it looks nice and u wake up everyday with big bright eyes, but if u r a sporty person like me, it is a hassle. I started to develope pimples & acnes from not being able to wash my face probably. when the lashes starts dropping off, it starts poking ur eyes. when u try to pull it off, as it is glued in such a way that it is criss-crossing with the others, it is impossible to pull it out.
Also, after you decide to remove the lashes, ur real lashes will become shorter and lesser..
Think about it.. maybe it is better to do it when u r having ur wedding or some really special occasion.

the place where I do my nail also do eyelashes extension. Most of the staff their have their lashes extended and it looks 100% natural. But the gals said they cant rub their eyes. It cost about $600 for 2 month (she will re-do any lashes that had fell off for 2 months)
I have once did it but I think its a pain to visit her again and again for the lashes.. so I just bought the fake one and glue it myself...eveyone said it looks great! and save alot of $$ too!

How can it look natural? Most Asian women don't have thick, long lashes so would look strange after extensions. Best to make the most of what you have.

Where is the best place in HK to do eyelash extensions. Somewhere that is professional and uses surgical glue. Have a few girls in my office who are clamouring to do it.

i did it once.Lets just say once is enough. The daily discomfort/minor irritation would put most people off.

If you are confident or skillful enough you can actually get a starter kit from online distributors and practise with a friend (who is deft and dextrous of coursse, but sign indemnity forms first haha). Better brands are from Korea, kits come with instruction CDs.
From what I've seen, most of the time the lashes drop off individually, on day to day basis. Sometimes you get people with one eye full lash extensions and the other sparse extensions sticking out and it looks pretty ridiculous, if you ask me.The price the salons are charging are still exorbitant even with touch-up packages.

I got it done at Essential Spa, looked really good and looked really natural... but I just couldn't stand having to be careful when washing my face and when in shower.

hi everyone,
as for your question betty, I am visiting in HK with my friends. I have had experience with lash extensions --- applying them on clients, I am a make-up artist in US. What I have seen that if people are not trained in applying them then lashes get stuck together---several lashes glued together, other thing some extensions are not lasting as long if not applied properly. Then again most common mistake from technician is not to dip all the base of the extension in the glue, so then the base of the eyelash is sticking in the eye and can scratch it. Taken together I really think it is best to find a good company and get a training from them, or at least, since I dont know any companies in HK which would offer training, get in touch with some technician whoes extensions last long and look 'right' and ask if they can train you.
for other folks --- please dont use glue which hurts your eyes, you can loose the vision, it is no joke, please make sure that the glue is from reputable company.

Thanks Nina, I better do it in the States then. Or only if you want to do it for me in HK. Haha. For those who want to buy those DIY kits, I strongly recommend them not to. This is an email reply from a reputable company in the US when I asked them what would happen if the glue accidentally gets into the eyes:
"When the procedure is done properly, there should be no possibility of getting glue into the client's eye. However, should an accident occur, the patient should be taken to the ER immediately. The treatment for lids that have been glued shut is to apply wet compresses for 3 days, and allow the skin cells to slough off, naturally releasing the bond. The treatment for glue that has gotten on a person's cornea is to flush with saline, and allow the glue to detach on its own with time."

WARNING!!!
I had it done 2 months ago by an experienced korean technician in USA, and it had been a nightmare to my eyes--so irritating, red, swollen eyes, blurry vision, etc.
So I did some reseach, and found that,
KOREA Consumer Protection Board (a government agency) reported that all the existing eyelash extension glues contain a very toxic chemical content of FORMALDEHYDE to make the glue stronger. It tested many existing eyelash products. (pls reseach on FORMALDEHYDE from internet if you want to know about this chemical)
This checmical is specially very harmful to eyes, nose, throat and may cause throat, lung cancer including brain cancer. It was very frightening to find out this information and now I know why my eyes reacted that way. If someone does not have any adverse side-effects, lucky for the person, but how do we know the long-term effects? I decided not to do it again, and just live as I was born with.
I will write you further later.

I get my eyelash extensions done by a lady in Central. They come in different lengths so you won't have to worry about them not looking "natural" at all. I've been going to her for almost 3 yrs now and never experienced any problems or complications with the glue or the lashes that she uses.

Who is the best to do eyelashes extensions in Beverly Hills. Call Anastasia Beverly Hills who is popular with eyebrows. She will tell you who is the best for that. Her phone # (888)409-BROW or the website: anastasia.net. There many kinds of glues. Better ask the professional for the glue was made in the U.S. You don't feel any things during the professional applies. It makes you feel as you were born that way. Weightless, soft....

Qoo, can I have her number?
Twin, I am going to Singapore in August and somewhere in the US in September, where do you think I should have it done, HK, Sin or US?

Sin is cheaper.

Hi Betty45678
Think the most important thing is finding someone that comes highly recommended by friends. When someone mentioned here earlier about certain brands of glue being toxic and could not be easily removed (if at all) from your lashes - all true!
The lady I goto charges $750 per application...you can judge whether she's worth it or not. If you still want her number please email me.

I think it costs Sing$75 to do it in this place called Strips in Holland Village, Singapore. There are other places where you can get it done with the same price or maybe slightly cheaper but they are usually the housing estate salons.
I got mine done in Malaysia a few months back for about Sing$60 (equivalent in Malaysian ringgit).

i think it's best to just do false eyelashes for special occasions. two of my girl friends have done it here in manila. while it is much cheaper here (Pesos 1,500 to 2,000), and they do look nice when correctly done, the sheer length of time it took, plus the fact that my friends can't rub their eyes or wash their faces properly gives me the heebie-jeebies. i'll stick with my eyelash curler + maybelline and (i think) l'oreal, which now have thse special two-part mascaras: the first application is a white-colored "primer" or coating that simply fattens up your lashes - and the second application is the mascara itself, which coats the whole thing. it really works for me - eyelashes look fuller and longer, and stay curled until you take it off. plus you are sure that the product is hypoallergenic, and you can get waterproof versions as well. comes off with your usual eye make-up remover (i use pond's cold cream).

Hi
Can someone explain to me about the procedure of eyelash extensions. Becuase i Just had my done but they only lasted a week and cost me alot of money (i didn't have them done in this country) but they were individual ones glued inbetween my real lashes. Is it possible to actually have an eyelash extension that is attached to the end of your own eyelash to make them longer?

Hi,
I have read all the threads above and it seems no one is giving information about a good place for eyelashes extension. I have tried Nail Nail, different shops in HK. The best one so far is Mulan in Central. others I tried which are not very good as they put too much glue, too thick or too much or not close to your eyelid. Mulan is the best one I tried so far. It is located in Central. There is a lady especially good at doing eyelashes extension, she is called Helen. It costs a lot of money but she is the best one so far. She put the fake eyelashes on your according to your real one in different length, so it looks natural but outstanding look!! I also have gel nails done there for 3 years now. The nail shop is just below Mulan.
Mulan - eyelashes extension HK$750 (if u have lane crawford vip card, you can enjoy 10% off for first time visit)
Triple Edge (gel nails)- Have promotion half price.
the above shop is in the same building, called Century Centre/plaza (can't remember) but it is right opposite to KFC (lan Kwai fong). Nail is on the 3rd floor. Mulan is 13th ( i guess) ..Anyway, u can call 31020238 for more information.

Dear Chillifontain,
Thank you very much for your information. Will go and try and let you know the outcome. Btw, can you remember how long Helen took for both side of the eye lashes?

Hi, I'm moving to Taipei in a month, and I was wondering if anyone knows of a place there that does eyelash extensions? I get mine done here in Hong kong, and I don't want to have to give it up when I move!! Thanks.

One by one eyelashes looks more natural and you can choose the length you want. You can call 93645271 'Sarah' for more detail. I have been going to her for years. She makes it so beautiful!Try her and she used to teach in taipei so maybe she has some idea.

I've used "sarah" before and I'm sorry to say, she's not that good. She did not use real hair when she told me she would use real hair. I didn't know this until my session was done so it was too late! Also, she quoted me a price over the phone and when I was at my appointment, she denied ever talking to me and said it was some else who must have quoted that price. So, if someone can recommend a really reliable person - please share the information. Thanks in advance.
