LDRs, Part 3
Posted by tia (213 days ago)
Since the last threat got a little long and it's been almost 2 years since it started, we'll start anew in 2008.
How is everyone doing in their LDRs?

gone past 2 years - loving the man more and more each day...
i wonder if you all feel the same: that the longer the long distance relationship lasts, the harder it gets each time to say goodbye? seeing that both have their own lives in their respective countries, and have asserted their independence, why does it get tougher each time??
Almost makes me want to think twice about visiting each other, seeing that its gonna break my heart AGAIN when the dreaded time to part comes around!!

Well, I know that after this Xmas together, once back in HK, I was ready to pack up everything I own and just run back there. It's getting harder and harder each time I leave to actually leave. We're working on getting the house set up in Oz, so it feels more like home than HK does now.
I can't NOT visit, but I HATE leaving.

Yup...I count down to the moment we are together...and then I'm counting the hours in dread at the prospect of saying goodbye.
But its good...I like that I can have my life here and know that I still have what I have. I just hate feeling like a lovesick teenager when you get those days when your whole body aches because you yearn so so much to be with them. Thats a bit of a bummer.
Can't believe its now more than 3 yrs for me...no surprise my former LDR notched up nearly 7 years - time goes so quickly.

everytime i return home, i almost immediately go searching for airtickets for my next trip!
Thinking sometime during the Easter holidays... tickets for CNY are awfully expensive!

I hear ya Chiki!!! I have tickets booked NOW for July because when I went to book my Xmas ticket in September, I was almost unable to get one?! WHAT?!
The prices have gone through the roof. My holidays this year at my new school are for sh*t and I am trying to SAVE money to move finally. It's not easy.
At the moment, I am seriously looking at running away this summer and never coming back.

I searched online for tickets to Oz during CNY and it came to about 18k no kidding i was so shocked! so im trying to get a very long holiday during easter to ching ming (one day in May) - maybe this plan can help someone else out there?
Speaking of saving money, i would have saved a small fortune by now if i hadnt spent my money on tickets and IDD calls - but when i sit down and think about it, the real reason ppl work hard for the money is to get them something they love or feel comfortable with, right? So im really spending my money wisely :)
where are ur men at, tia and pumpkin?

I don't regret spending any of the money I have spent on us. AT ALL. Never will. You're right...we work to live and he is a huge part of my life, so I will spend what I have to get there.
My husband is in Brisbane.
That *long weekend* in May I am planning to go there as well. I found tickets there at that time for $7k.

Yes, with Cathay, I think. It stops in Cairns, possibly, but that's nothing, it's an hour I think.
Maybe you and I could get a 2-4-1 airfare!! :)

I'm with you. He left this weekend and it has been really tough to not follow him and just leave everything behind.

do any of you ever wonder how long this long distance thing will last? I mean, do you and your bf have a date in mind that you WILL eventually end the distance, and live in the same country?

we've agreed that this contract is my last - so July 2009 is the bitter end.
That said, July 2008 is looking better......

so you're moving to where he is?
do you want to live there?
(I am based in Hong Kong)
Posted by tia (120 days ago)
Yes, I am moving there.
I *do* but I have my hesitations. I do not want to move before I have my teaching certification worked out. I am doing that now.
My biggest concern is finding work, not being with him. If his job were such that I could live there for awhile and work casually, I would not be so worried. Alas, that is not the case.
