dull life less hair
Posted by goldensoulmountain (243 days ago)
Dear All,
My hair have become very dull and lifeless after I have started colouring. When washing it feels very stiff as if i have used the gel.
I condition properly also I frequently use warm olive oil to massage...where am I going wrong...is it due to colour or I need proper shampoo?
need help...

This is a tough one to clarify without seeing the hair but i will give it a shot. Color will affect the condition of the hair and it will vary depending on the type of color and how it is applied ( numerous overlapping applications etc.).
Using a good moisture based shampoo and conditioner is a good step but not usually enough. Many conditioners just provide the primary use which is closing the cuticle so you are not getting much out of it. You need to nourish your hair with more moisture while keeping the hair strong with protien base. So using a Deep Conditioning treatment on a weekly basis will help plus you may want to consider using a daily hair reconstructor to help maintain the hairs strength.
Consult your stylist about it as they know (or at least should) what they have been putting on your hair and can suggest something that can help.

Any hair that has undergone dyeing is vulnerable to damage: the degree depends on the amount of colour change. For instance, going from dark to light is the most damaging because the bleaching agent is stronger and left on for longer. Also the frequency with which the hair is dyed is a major factor in the amount of damage sustained. Any chemical service reduces the elasticity and increases the prospect of hair breakage.
Apart from doing an after colouring conditioning, use a protein mask and deep conditioning treatment regularly before and after colouring.
It is also similarly important to condition the hair after each shampoo to eliminate tangles and smooth the hair cuticles. The heavier, more moisturizing types should be used, irrespective of the possibility of causing fine hair go limp; Any limpness can be counteracted by using styling products.

Thanks D-man , philip george..
I think my hair are damaged due to frequent use of colour (which is unavoidable)..
What sort of protein mask and deep conditioning treatment you guys recomend?
Btw: I seee women around with shiny , bouncy hair , and am sure they also colour frequently, whats the secret you think?

GSM,
sorry for the late reply, I would like to give you a short lesson on the structure you are dealing with. Hair, a waste byproduct of the body is primarily made of protein Aprox. 97 percent and aprox 3% water with a bonding agent called Muccopoly saccharides. You might want to thin of damaged hair as an untreated piece of wood, poris and fibrous. To truly rebuild the hair and return the moisture there is a very exacting process you must go through.
You see, most if not all products on the market that call themselves recondidioners or deep conditioners simply effect the hair on a superficial basis. They use oils and fatty acids to make the hair feel better topically bt do not effect it on a molecular level. There fore you end up in the same place just a few days after your treatments and have to kep repeating the cycle with no clear result. To bring back the elasticity and structurally repair the hair on a permenant basis you must work on a molecular level and.
Up until recently this was simply not possible but a few years ago when I was with Redkin the labs isolated the main protein in the hair that is responsible for its strength and elasticity, Cystein Protein. This Protein is actually what we call a Cross Bond, much like runs on a ladder. As you might imagine the more bonds you have the healtier the hair. The reason for this is that this corss bond is the very bond that the water Molecule attaches to, thus, more bonds...more moisture. Hense, healthier hair.
Now the beauty of this using a system such as this is that it is a progressive treatment meaning that each time you use it the hair becomes healthier and in better condition on a molecular scale. Also, because you are adding proteins and water, no oil, you end up with fuller healthier hair. Another benefit is that color also attaches to these bonds and the more bonds the longer your color will last. Simply it is similar to filling a piece of wood and then sealing the surface.
Now, how do you do this? First, realize that you cannot do it in one setting. Depending on the hair and amount of damage you may need as many of 4 treatments and then a booster once a month, most can get away with a series of 3. Each treatment must be within a 7 day period for after that the bonds can degrade and you start over. I can tell you that I have used this method for over 8 years and and have had amazing results, especially here in HK.
Since you obviously have an issue in this area I would like to do something for you and invite you for a full session on me. Until recently I have been using other brands but as of last week finally the first shipment of my own product that we have re engineered with a more organic base. The last one I used here in HK was causing scalp issues long term and I really needed a home system as well. I will also give you a system for the home as I need feed back for my distributors on each product. So far, thank god, it has surpassed every expectation, just give me a call if you would like to participate...its all on me by the way, hope to see you...Cheers
By the way...DO NOT USE OILS!!!!!! They block proteins from entering the cortex and have no molecular use what so ever.

GSM, just by the way, you have made the best decision EVER. Doug is a top hairdresser and will look after you 110%. He saved me from a really bad local hair job and I haven't looked back. Enjoy the experience, he is not only a brilliant carer for hair, he is a good laugh.

Good to read the problem is on the way to being resolved. As an aside my husband - who has been losing his hair for the last 20 years and doesn't have much left - had a laugh when he saw the original title of this thread: "dull life less [sic] hair". His response? NEVER!

gsm...I wanted to leave you few things that I have been recommending to my clients. One of the issues here is the water, this company makes a great easy to use filter for your shower, I use it on mine and it makes a it difference...http://www.aquasanastore.com/
Also, you might try a shampoo by Phyto, it is their Anti aging shampoo, it has anti-oxidants in it. I have been using it for about a month and it leaves the air in wonderful condition and removes allot of impurities....sorry it took me awhile to get this to you I wanted to talk to Aqusana and make sure they were okay with me mentioning their brand here...cheers

OM and GSM,
I am meeting with several packaging companies this week so it should be ready by weeks end. It uses a specific protein and a specially prepared water molecule to actually reconstruct the protein bonds, this differs from conditioning which is topical. i will explain the details when I see you as it would take to much time here. The best part is that its progressive so the more you use it the better the hair becomes. I have used several systems that were similar including one here in HK that was good but each had a missing link that I had used ,at Redkin years ago but the patent was bought and it was not developed...Just so happened that in my quest to get another product reverse engineered a few months back. I ran into the one of the original members of the Redkin crew that developed that product, told him what I was up to and he tweeked the formula a bit partnered with me djand now its all set to go. I have been using it on my clients for about 2 months now and it surpasses even the one I had used here. ( my opinion of coarse, but I have loads of client feed back if you need it.) Hope to see you soon...cheers

SG,
I have just finished with the first retail batch and got the first batch but not the packaging. I am working on this at the moment, if you do not mind the informal non-labeled package you can get one of the demos from me. I have to have a consultation with you before hand as it is custom blended per client and I need to explain the process. It was really just for my clients but the response has been a bit overwhelming. Just give me a shout at the shop and book a consult (no charge of coarse ) and I will explain how this works and when to use it as it has specific directions. Just give the salon a call I am at O2 on Wyndham, the number is 25296289...thanks for the interest and support...Cheers
I don't like putting this type of information on here so in the future it you can just go to my web site to the left 'Hair Questions' my contact info is there and I am putting a page on the treatment. We have come a long way here and don't want to be disrespectful ...thanks
