Beijing during Chinese New Year

I am thinking of visiting Beijing for the first time over the Chinese New Year weekend. Am I correct to assume that the city will clear out a bit as people go home to their villages? Is it apt to be even more packed? Just looking to do some sight-seeing. Thanks.

Iwent to Beijing last Chinese New Year, and even there were many tourist around you won't feel the city as crowded as it may become Hong Kong in other holidays..
You will have lots of sightseeing and things to do, no worries

i heard this Chinese new year most of the waidi (not originaly from beijing) didn't go back home so it could be a bit crowded. But if becouse of this you cancel your trip here that is going to be a big lost, there will be places and intresting attraction that you could see for sure.

Lots of fun during CNY but the weather is SO COLD! Last year it was, at least. Be prepared.
