Sofitel is half the price of The Legian. So is the Legian really worth it? Or is the Sofitel really bad? We'll have 2 little kids in tow, so family friendliness is key.
i have mentioned it earli er in this forum - Intercontinental is supposed to be one of the best on the island with kids. Was fantastic - pure luxury and great with kids (we took our 2 tw-year olds..) - can not recommned more
legian is luxurious, but have to say better for couples. You can also try Ritz Carlton, not directly on the beach, have to take golf cart down, but for service cannot be beat ! Intercon is also very good, directly onto Jimbaran Beach, but sea can be dangerous ( undertow) Restaurants at Intercon okay, can be expensive, you do have alternative beach cafe (s) for fabulous seafood, right on your doorstep. Hotel Security very good.
Expat123, I just came back from Bali and I stayed in Grand Hyatt Nusa Dua. I was happy and satisfied of their service and room. It's not as new as other hotels.
I stayed in the Grand Hyatt too a couple years ago. They have a kids' club, but it was a bit lame. The waterslide at the hotel was great and our kids spent hours on it each day. Note the water might be a bit deep for really young kids, so floatation device or a parent "catching at the bottom of the slide would be necessary.
I know of a family that just got back from staying in the Conrad Hotel ($65/night) and thought it was great.
Also the waterpark, WaterBoom in Kuta, is great fun.
