a few hours transit at Hanoi airport

We have a wait between planes coming back from Da Nang .As I recall Hanoi airport is a fair way out and rather boring -anyone have some ideas for 5 hours please?

What time are you going to be there?

5 hours - It is US$10 into town about 45 min, depending on where you want to go, or 7000VND (?) to take the bus, and longer.

If I had never been in Ha Noi, I would go to the old quarter and walk around.

If I had been to the old quarter, I would ask a taxi driver how much for a trip to Bat Trang - the pottery village.

Other than that, I guess it depends on what you like.

you are a treasure ld thanks -where is Bat Trang please what is there besides pottery and how long do you reckon I would need to allow for taxi ride Bat Trang please.
Also don't want to cut it too fine...how long do we need to get back thru customs and immigration there?Seem to recall it is fairly leisurely pace there re all that?thanks heaps

I am not sure how long it takes to get from the airport to Bat Trang - but I think it is closer to the airport than downtown. But that doesn't mean there is a shorter route!

Two hours is normally more than enough time to check in and make it to the waiting area.

There is more than enough to look at in Bat Trang. If it takes 1 hour to get from the plane to Bat Trang, 1,5 hour for walking around (assuming that everything isn't shut down because of Tet!!!!), that leaves 2,5 hours to get back to the airport and checked in.

The 12th is 4th day of the Tet holiday - I am not sure what you will find in Bat Trang. Things might be pretty much shut down.

ahhh yes you are right -Tet is an issue thanks so much for taking the time anyway-might head into Hanoi if anything is open there!happy Tet to you ld!
