Has anyone travelled this route who might be able to recommend a route and advise on airlines serving the route. I know CX flies only to Mumbai but does the likes of Singapore Airlines fly direct to Goa, making the diversion through Singapore a viable proposition? Or maybe an airline serving Macau and India?
If Spore air, then you'll be doubling your travel time with 3 flights, plus enduring red eye or staying overnight at aiports. I connected through Bangalore since it was my first stop.
1) Thai Airlines flies HKG>BKK>Bangalore or HKG>BKK>Mumbai. Domestic by Kingfisher air.
Both options will arrive around 10-11pm, but dont think there is a domestic air connection to Goa at that hour.
2)Cathay Pacific > Mumbai is a shorter journey.
3)Sri Lanka air flies Hkg>Colombo>Goa but there's an overnight stopover. I have not tried this airline.
I had to use Thai Airlines at that time as all flights were full.
India's airports' facilities are not geared towards travellers' needs, so it's best to keep transit time as short as possible.
Sri Lanka airlines Hkg>Colombo>Goa
this airline is combined with Emirates so its good. The food and wine better then any other airline.
But i recommend to book early as the flights book up fast. Seems the easiest way to travel to Goa
They are transit hotels + transport provided in Mumbai not great but OK for your overnight stay. Take care of your belongings at all times in Mumbai.
Crystal, did Sri lanka air provide you with Colombo overnight hotels for both trips ( to/from Goa)?
Per the website, there is a 8 hrs stopover requiremnt before transit hotel is provided by Sri Lanka air and the HK-Columbo>Goa does not meet the 8 hrs.
Sri Lanka Air is managed by Emirates management who is their major shareholder.
But, it was reported recently that Emirates is returning the airline's managment to Sri Lanka's govt and also their shareholder's agreement in Mar 2008. Wonder whether this will impact their services.
