Taking young children to Kuala Lumpur

Any family with young children (under 4 years old) have gone to KL for vacation? I am considering a vacation for 1 week in KL, then onwards to maybe Kota Kinabalu or Langkawi....

But researching and reading forums .... I get the sense, KL is not a "safe" place for family vacations. Why is that? Is it very dangerous, esp at night?

very honestly,

KL isn't that exciting....unless you are planning to shop like mad at places like KLCC. i went there before i had kids and i don't find it exactly child-friendly.

There are nice placed in KL for young kids...Sunway Lagoon waterpark is one good option. Sunway lagoon hotel is great with good eating outlet nearby. KK is mainly good for beach and Kota Kinabalu Moutain...ShangriLa hotel is good choice...nice island nearly by
