Eh, isn't that stating the obvious??? Depends of course if you want a real made in Japan Camera or a made in China one, also your guarantee options will be different if you buy it on the mainland. Pricing for the japanese ones will be quite similar, but maybe you can bargain a little more, then you would in HK?
Why on earth would anybody buy a camera on the mainland ?
They have 100% duty on imported luxury goods.
Hong Kong will be much cheaper or buy online through B & H via the USA and save even more money.
I purchased my last digital camera in Tokyo for 20% cheaper than Hong kong. Hong Kong is begining to get pricey, probably due to the savage rent increase shops have had to pay over the last 18 months.
OK...OK...OK...I'm convinced. Thanx to one and all. This pretty much confirms what I thought, but I wanted to ask just in case somebody knew better. I will play it safe. I want to get a couple of lenses to strap onto the front of my new Canon G7. I thought that perhaps that they were made on the mainland and that I might do better there. But I will stick to HK.
