Foresoon Computer has several models. They have a store in Wan Chai Computer Centre and also one on the corner of Wing Lok St and Des Voeux Rd Central.
Did you find a decent one Eathan? I think I'd be looking to get a 1000watt+ one for my Stereo equipment, etc. I've just shot off an email to Foresoon.. let's see if I get a reply.
Hello, not yet. I looked in Wanchai at the computer centre but they wanted 1600HKD for a 1000 watt converter. Way too much if you ask me. I'ved looked online and they are available for 300HK but the shipping is expensive as they are coming from North America. I've heard that SHAM SHUI PO (I know I spelt it wrong) has them and they can be had for about 600HK. I'll be going there next week. I'll let you know what I find.
Make sure you get a heavy duty one. I had a local step-down transformer here in Ha Noi burn out when I plugged in an electric toothbrush charger, as well as the other item it was running. If you smell something electrical burning, check the transformer - never that one go before! (The landlady's, not mine!)
When I was shopping for tranformers online in the US before my move to HK, 2 different retailers advised that I should just double the wattage from the appliance to tell me the correct size transformer to purchase. The problem is with start up when there is a power surge.
I bought a 3000 watt transformer for under $60 US + shipping Luckly, it came before my move.
Yes, Sham Shui Po, but don't go to the Golden Computer. Go to the Electronic Hardware Stores on Apliu Street close to Yen Chow Street (which is across the street from the Dragon Centre). You can find Transformers of different sizes and watts. Anything you want at a reasonable price.
