Want to get a new laptop before I go on holiday.
Looking at 1 of two options.
#1.Buy from one of the markets in Guangzhou. Yes I know the ethical side to this, but I want to save myself as much money as possible and there are some very good machines at stupidly low prices after bargaining...
#2.Buy from Dell online.
They seem to have some great deals on their inspiron 6400 series. Was wondering how reliable they are.
Also want to know if anyone has a discount coupon?
A third option would be to buy in HK...
My budget is 7000yuan (no more) I want a widescreen display 1gbram (minium) 100gb hdd (minimum) dvd r/w and wi/fi.
I have a dell inspirion. The keyboard died and I was quite irritated by the poor "tech support" I got when I called Dell. Short version of the story is my Dell days are over! I bought a replacement from HP. You should consider the availability of tech support, because while unlikely, you may need it someday.
HP is best offer in town, buy from Fortress or Broadway as you can ask for discount and upgrades right now, many discountinued notebooks available. Agree with blackvirusss dv2000 good deal. Try and get Intel Duocore instead of AMD processor though
I found that some older softwares don't work properly with Duocore, and I had to get someone to help disable it! Perhaps time for me to upgrade computers ... I hate this software hardware catch-up cycle.
notaclue - There are numerous problems with Vista not working with older programs. If you are running Vista that is probably the problem; I get many messages from Vista about software not being compatible. I dual boot linux and Vista and my old linux programs have no problems with the dual core chip.
