I use the standard netvigator package to access the internet which I assumed would use dynamic IP addresses.
It seems, however, that whenever I access the internet I am given the same IP address, just as though I had paid for a fixed IP address package.
Is there a reason for this or is it an amazing conincidence? Is it something to do with having NowTV as well?
Thanks
Your ADSL modem-router is always on and always connected to the Netvigator server, so its IP addresses does not change. The IP address only changes after a reset of the router.
Thanks for the explanation, onemorething.
I power-down the ADSL modem-router whenever it is not in use so presumably, it remembers it's IP address when it powers back up the next day.
I don't think it has to do with the router. Am using netvigator too, and my IP n Gateway IP keeps changing whenever i exit n re-login. I never turn off my cable modem and i got NowTV too. Call and check with their CS.
