Classic Fried Chicken
Posted by annebin (630 days ago)
Made some for dinner using my tried and tested recipe with just salt, pepper and garlic rub but they didn't taste as flavorful as those I made back home...
I'm interested in trying out other classic fried chicken recipes. Any suggestions?

How about some pounded fresh lemongrass to spice it up?

Using part butter to fry chicken in is very US traditional and very flavourful.

How about marinate it with lemon, pepper, garlic and salt for few hours and boiled it with reasonable amount of water. Then if you think it is done, take out the chicken and roll it with the flour mixed with salt and pepper and deep fry with very hot oil.
The remaining liquid, you can use it as soup and you can add some vegetables like potato, mushroom, celery or carrot . You can use a blender and you will have a nice creamy soup as well. Yummy!

Try boiling the chicken in chicken broth, adding onions, garlic, scellion and thyme. Then mix your salt and pepper with the flour to make the batter then dip and fry.

Wow, these recipes sound very interesting, way more complicated and perhaps flavorful than anything my "deep south" USA family has ever done! :-)

For a spicier fried chicken, add some red pepper (Cayenne) to your flour, salt and black pepper and coat the chicken in that! Delicious!!
And the best fried chicken, in my book, is always served with mashed potatoes and thick gravy and green beans or corn!
Others will no doubt say to add biscuits, but chicken and potatoes are enough for me.
YUMM! I'm getting hungry!!!!!!!!
