Scotch egg

Hello there,just curious is there anyone have scotch egg recipe?And is it possible to put the scotch eggs in the oven instead of deep fried?Cos it is a right kerfuffle to clean up after a deep fried. Cheers!

i want to find this out too , put i dont think you should ever deep fry a skotch egg anyway. Of hte top of my head , its a boiled wrapped in sausage meat , breadcumbed , then pooped in the oven ... let me check it out .. its definatley scotch egg time!!. Incedently , where or how are you making your sausage meat?

Scotch Eggs are usually deep fried. I'm sure you could give it try in the oven though. Or even, shallow fry.

Agree with Hen - scotch eggs ARE deep fried.

6 hard-cooked eggs, well chilled
1 pound breakfast sausage
1/2 cup flour
2 eggs, beaten
3/4 cup fine bread crumbs
Vegetable oil for frying

Peel eggs and set aside. Divide sausage into 6 portions. Roll each egg in flour and with hands press a portion of the sausage around each egg.

Dip sausage-wrapped eggs into beaten eggs and roll in bread crumbs. Heat vegetable oil to 350 degrees Fahrenheit.

Cook each egg in oil about 4-5 minutes or until sausage is cooked and browned. Drain on paper toweling. Serve warm

Thanks to all of you for adding something to my breakfast menu - my kids get bored with the same old stuff. We're not ready for haggis, though
