I had this done about 4 years ago in america. I went in about 6am, into surgery about 8am I think, was home by 1pm. Took a day of resting. I was off pain killers within 2 days. And I would say I was pretty much back to usual life within a week.
I was not trying to get pregnant so cant answer you question on that, and I cant think how it changes your fertility other than you have less eggs as whatever "stock" is in 1 ovary gets removed.
my advise would be to plan to eat light afterwards - the only thing I could keep down that first day was jelly but that was partially due to a reaction to the pain killers. Get a few girlie dvds in and plan to sit on the sofa for a day or two.
just realised I have assumed that they remove your ovary ... which may not be the case. In my case they did as they found the cyst was too mixed in. Since the op I have got pregnant 3 times (miscarriages but that is more age related).
