If i'm trying to get pregnant, how many mg should i take, where to buy and what brand? thanks.

Most women's multivitamins have enough. GNC "Meca Women" works. Some Wellcome shops sell it. There are also several GNC stores, including one in Queensway Plaza in Admiralty.

i take 800 mg of follic acid each day. i got them from GNC.

crystal88, when I was trying, my GP gave the pills to me. I bought it then at their pharmacy. If I remember right, I was given 4mg tablets. Later, I just bought a bottle at a regular Rx- same dosage.

alijbj, it must be 800mcg=8mg. Its still seems a high dosage. Did your dr. recommend that? I have heard and read (only on the internet though) not more than 5mg.

I purchase Blackmores Pregnancy and Breastfeeding Gold through Pharmacy Online in Australia. They have a 3 month bulk pack, so I just buy a couple at a time. They deliver via airmail to HK. I started taking the supplements about a month before we started trying. I trust blackmores, they have a good reputation and have been around forever. let me know if you want more details.

just checked the folic acid label on the bag that the hospital gave me and it says 5mg

yes 5 mg it is..i think you should get it at watsons..just askt the pharmacy there and they will guide u..its a good idea to start it while u trying to get preg.

788, yes you are right, should be 800mcg = 8mg. i was told by the pharmacist to take up to max 1000mcg if trying to get pregnant. when i tested positive back in jan, my clinic advised me to take 500mcg = 5mg which I took 400mcg then.

Typically if you are trying to become pregnant or already are you would take the same dosage. After all you won't know for sure that you are pregnant until a while after the fact.
