I have been Recommended Dr Choy but i heard she does not practice at the Matlida? Can anyone shed any light on this??What are other peoples opinions o Dr Choy??
I went to see Dr. Choy last summer when I was about 4-5 months pregnant. I found her facilities in Central to be very comfortable and new. Her "bedside manner" was excellent and she explained well all the questions we asked her.
However, my husband and I suffered severed "sticker shock" after receiving our bill from Dr. Choy. You must know that if you are going to Dr. Choy for an ultrasound scan (which we were) that she has all the latest and best in scan equipment and the cost for that equipment will be deferred to you on your bill. She was actually quite open about this during our visit we just weren't prepared to pay so much.
Also, I was prescribed a very basic calcium supplement by her which she dispensed at her office. I paid over 700 HKD for a 30-day supply of this supplement. Upon returning home I became curious as to why the supplement cost so much so I went and talked with a local pharmacy that I use and bought the exact same supplement for 30 HKD (month's supply). I immediately contacted Dr. Choy and her explanation for the high charge was the supplier they use. She was kind enough to refund my money on the unused portion of supplement and I returned it to her office.
After that we did not visit Dr. Choy again as she was far out of the budget range we were willing to spend. However, if money is not an issue for you and you enjoy a friendly doctor with good equipment then I would recommend Dr. Choy.
Hi, Lynne
Do you mean that she cannot practise in Matilda? She told me that she does not want to go because the staff are not very nise and the hospital is far from her home.
I had dr choy for first pregnancy - she was great through the pregnancy but didnt ahve such a great birth experience with her - she is very businesslike and didn''t feel very caring at a difficult time but i appreciated her approach before that so I guess it is just a personal preference. like with any doc i think it is important to be clear about what you want and perhps i could have been more assertive with her.
I would like to see Dr. Choy as I have PCOS and just found out pregnant (I think I'm 5 weeks). Could someone please share comments on her professional knowledge & skills? I should be classified as 'high risk', as I'm over 35 years old and a bit overweight.
