antenatal classes

hi
we are expecting our first baby in feb and i would like to join antenatal classes. have checked with most of the hospitals, but none are available in english.
i would prefer the classes to be in kowloon or New territories. Two or three hospitals on the island side have english classes, but its not possible for us to travel to the island side.
can anyone suggest any public or private hospital or agency which provides english antenatal classes?

Apart from hospitals (I travelled from Hung Hom to Matilda for my classes) Annerley Midwives (see link elsewhere on this site) do classes and they have a well-deserved good reputation.

Thanks for your reply. I have checked with annerly midwives, but they are also on the island side. Its really difficult to travel from sheung shui to central, so that is why i m looking for something on the kowloon side. If you have any info about this, it would be a great help.

You could try calling Yvonne Heavyside at The Family Zone (check their website for contact details). Yvonne herself is excellent and I know that TFZ do individual home visits. Whilst TFZ might not be the best option for you I think Yvonne would be helpful enough to suggest any other closer options that are available to you. Personally I think if you don't want a home visit then you're going to have to travel. And when it boils down to it Annerley's place in Central really isn't that far from Kowloon. Good luck.

Have you rung the public hospitals and asked about English classes? I've been booked into the Queen Mary's English classes so I suspect places like the Prince of Wales or Queen Elizabeth may have some.

yes, i am registered with Prince of Wales for delivery but they do not have english classes. I spoke to my doctor at MCH to refer me to Queen Elizabeth Hospital, but they refused to do so. So we dont have any other option other than look for any private hospital.

HI Shweta Khanna, I am on the same boat as you!! I am due to give birth in Feb also and live in Tuen Mun. I am wondering if I should join an intensive antenatal class ASAP... I am thinking about Annerley Midwives, and I think they do home visits. May be we can set up a class together?
