Kicking and bathroom issues
Posted by Babeez (238 days ago)
I am at 22 weeks and i find myself having bowel movements around three times in a day or nothing for three days. This time, i have been going around 3 times a day for three days....is this normal? This is my first pregnancy. I worry that with so much bowel movenment, my baby isn't getting enough nutrients, i take supplements but feel dizzy and tired alot.
Another question, i have had so many horror stories that i worry about my baby when it doesn't kick. She has been kicking every day for the last week, usually when i am resting but nothing today...does anyone know if this is normal? How often should a baby kick between 22-23 weeks?
Reading pregnancy books make me more anxious because everything in there seems life-threatening. Just wanted to hear from any mums.
Any help would be much appreciated!

if you are feeling dizzy, please talk to your DR at your next visit. tiredness is completely normal, and you will not feel well rested for the next 2-3 years, so get used to it!
it is normal for the baby to kick when you rest...it's like when you walk around, the movement rocks the baby to sleep (this is why after they are born, they like the rocking motion too!).... lie down for an hour and see what happens.
if you don't feel anything for an hour, then call the dr

As long as you don't have diahrea or abnormal bowel movements I think everything is normal. The difference in frequency might be because of how your growing uterus is putting pressure on your stomach and intestines and you insides are adjusting to their new positions. As long as you are easy healthily and gaining weight studily it's not a problem!
How often do you usually feel your baby kick? Just like cara said, if you relax and lie down you should be able to feel the baby kick within a hour. Also, the fetus usually is more active right after you eat because of the surge in glucose level in the blood so you could try to feel it then. Mine kicks all the time so I expect to feel a few kick every couple of hours. Don't worry, they usually don't kick when you want them to :)

Thanks for putting my mind at peace, kicking is back. I work and move around alot so don't gte to feel the kicks too often but when i get home and lie down, i feel her moving. So easy to get paranoid when it's your first!

just you wait... there will come a time, not to long from now when you will be counting the days until the kicking stops...
both of mine were SO ACTIVE, even in the last little while (although they were both born just after 8 months) that i was sure that they were going to put a foot through my stomach....

cara,
did both yours turn out to be super active babies? I'm wondering if how the are in the womb actually reflect their behaviors after birth.

Babeez,
Soon you will be be telling her kick softer, slower, relax, take a rest as mommy wants to sleep.... and the rest!! she will do somersault, kungfu and karate to tell you she is so well nesting inside your womb.
Enjoy!

well... my son started walking unaided at 10.5 months and hasn't stopped since. but he is still quite a serious boy and very well-behaved. he loves to laugh but is still able to have a serious conversation and is able to concentrate for decent lengths of time. he loves running around, riding his bicycle and jumping on the trampoline that is at the front of the village. he loves swimming and has loved it since he was 10 weeks old.
his sister, now 7.5 months, has been crawling since 5 months(amazing considering she was born a month early!). for the past 2 weeks, she's been pulling herself up to standing and is trying to "cruise"...i figure that she will accomplish that in the next couple of weeks...
so, i guess that they are fairly active little ones...

Thanks guys, i am feeling more activity now. Quite excited to hear about all the activity...makes me feel at peace knowing she's okay. Did hear about a lady with a broken rib though from the baby kicking that must be one in a million...if even that!
