Online maternity bra shops
Posted by Wheelymate (339 days ago)
Hi,
I'm only 9 weeks but I can't fit into my normal bras, underwires hurt me and the maternity bras I wore for #1 are soooo awful looking I can't believe I ever wore them!
I'm planning to look at Mothercare and Marks when I have the time but retailers seem more interested in nursing bras than maternity. So I might have to go online. Looked at figleaves.com, looks pretty good...anyone tried it? Have to say the popular Elle Mc ones seems pretty pricey, any cheaper brands available on the web? Preferably one with a good exchange policy because I'm not too good with my measurements!

thanks for all the links, crj, more excuses to shop!
bought 2 decent ones from marks although the saleslady said that because my pregnancy is so early, i will probably need new ones later! so i am not even thinking of nursing bras because my boobs just went out of control when the milk came in!
will take a look at all the posted sites, thanks!

used figleaves and loved them.
I just bought bigger bras - no underwire and just more comfy...
Elle Macpherson's bras were nicer and sexier - but I ended up using the bravada bras for nursing....never really felt ALL that sexy while breastfeeding...HAHAHH...

I liked Bravado bras the best. They have new ones these days. And made in Canada too.

What about sports bra? That's what I wore in the early stages since it gives support and is underwire.
I know Bravado is comfy and get good reviews etc but if you're big breasted I didn't find them that great.

I'm not HUGE, but i'm a big size (40 DD while nursing) and I thought Bravado really nice - comfortable. They sort of squish you a bit and don't really LIFT you, but I liked them a lot.ITs sort of the feeling you're going for.
While pregnant, I still like underwire...even though some women's breasts are too tender for such things.

my boobs cannot handle underwire during pregnancy....it took getting used to them again post-pregnancy!!
stb: sports bra....well, the old ones i have are something like that...it's comfy and all but really depressing looking! i want ribbons and some lace trimmings, haha! even my normally very diplomatic hubby couldn't find something nice to say about my maternity bras!

Elle McPh is the 'sexy lacy' but just get one or two (I got 4...mistake), as you really will wear the ugly/sports/cotton/comfy/types more!
I wore the nursing bras as pregnancy bras as I didn't want to buy new bras every few months. They have lasted me through two pregnancies and are in the second round of nursing... once this is all over I am soooo going to splurge!
I also got 2 extra super push up killer cleavage bras for special 'going out' occassions to show off my new (temporary) boobs - they are great fun (but not for nursing and not that comfy)
