Mother-in-law in town - suggestions for activities with 10 month old
Posted by Becki1975 (86 days ago)
My mother-in-law is visiting next week - please can anyone suggest activities she can do with our ten month old son - as both my husband and I will be at work - eg going to the park, the playroom at Wise Kids etc.
Any suggestions would be great.
Thanks

where are you located?
how will she travel with little one?
has she been here before? ie) does she know hk?
how old is she? ie) what is her stamina like? how long of a trip would she be able to handle with the little one?
will she be going with a helper too, or by herself?

Hello Cara
We're in Mid Levels
She'll be travelling by taxi with the baby.
Yes she has been before, she's strong (63 years old though), lots of stamina, knows HK a little and will be going by herself as she's very independent, though our helper will guide her if needs be.
They'd be able to go out from about 2.30, back home around 5.30.
Any ideas?

10 months means he will be somewhat limited in time, as evidenced by your 2:30->5:30 proviso. The beaches on South Side are certainly an option.

can go to:
stanley beach/repulse bay beach
ocean park (although for only 3 hours, might not be worth it) but we started going with our kids when they were 10 months, they LOVED the aquarium!
central library has a playroom, i think
zoological and botanical gardens
large playground in hk park near kennedy road
you can also buy a pack of playing card (that's what they look like) at bookshops called HK with kids or something like that...

If your kids are blondes or redheads, warn your mother-in-law about the mainlanders staring, taking pictures, wanting their picture taken with the child, and touching the hair. This happens sometimes on the beaches but at Ocean Park it's endemic.

Go and get a Prampushers guide to Hong Kong! Then she'll be able to find her way around easily and also get loads of tips and ideas on what to do!!
