My daughter did that since she was 3 months until .... 3 years old ?
She has a "shallow" tummy....and sensitve reflux or whatever you call it in her throat. She would easily throw up if she ate something that was in bigger chunks, or if she stuck her finger in her mouth a little deep, or her hair gets in her mouth, or yes.. the most common one... she cries.
We used to have the mop and a pail of water in her room, and in the living room.... every day and night, high point, my helper was cleaning up her vomit about 5 times a day.....
This was especially frequent when I tried to get her to go to sleep by herself in her room. About 12-14 months.... she would stand in her crib, and wail and wail... then I would check on her, hold her, and try to get her to lie down, then the moment she discovers I went outside, she would cry until she throw up. It would be easy especially after her "sleepy "feed... of usually 8 oz of milk.....
So that was exhausting, and it was a learned behaviour of hers after awhile because I was so scared of her throwing up that I gave into every single demand she ordered. Then I realized my life was getting out of control. So one night, about 3 months of this insaneness.... I readied the mop in front of her, and I told her, cry, and if you throw up, I will just clean it up, change you and you go back into the crib.
She cried, she threw up, I cleaned up, and I changed her in to new Pyjamas, and I kept my word. After 5 days, she learned.
Then when she hit 2 years old... whenever she had tantrums, she cries, and then throw up. It's a 99% guarantee. We're used to it.
That's why she's very skinny and tiny.
Now, she's 4 and half, we don't have that anymore. Only when she's sick.
That's my story. Is it normal, I don't know, but certainly exhausting, and there is nothing physically WRONG with her. It's more of a learned behaviour for her ,and a conditioned response from me.... or not. Good luck.Hope it's just that 1 time for you.
