my baby is nine months old, he has solids four times a day and about 4 to five breast feeds.
He eats quite well and is as fond of spinach as popeye the sailorman, but i keep reading about how breastfed babies need to have iron supplements.
since baby is fine (happy, active etc) and i'm really busy, i don't feel like taking him over to the pediatrician just to ask what iron drops i can add to his food.
so, would like names of iron drops i can add and also suggestions on how to do it and when.
also would like to know if u all give your babies fish oil supplements, if yes how much, what brand (and where to buy please) and when and how again.
Hi, I've been giving my baby (who is 11 mths old) fish oil drops since she was about 4 months old. I use a brand recommended by my doctor and I buy it at her office. The brand is Nordic Naturals® DHA Junior LIQUID Strawberry Flavor. I give my baby 1.5ml with her evening bottle. This will change to 2.5ml when she is 1 yr old. Please message me if you want the name of the doctor's office selling this- I think you can just walk in and buy it as it is on display in the office. Can you not just phone your pediatrician for a recommendation on which iron drops to give? I've called mine before with simple questions like this. Saves my time and hers!
kilwinning, will pm you in a couple of minutes for doctor's address.
i see one of the pediatricians in a hospital, as a friend of mine recommended here it's a bit hassle getting through on the phone.
