Posted by ivf - worth a try!? (1285 days ago)
Hi,
I am hoping someone can give me some sound advice. I have pcos, have been working with milton leong. first try (injections) got pregnant/miscarried, second try injections/iui- failed. he now wants to do ivm/ivf. i am wondering if this seems to be rushing things or seems at the right pace. Also, any thoughts on just ivf- and advice!!?? thanks.

Know the feeling - they really do seem to push you along here but I suppose they think they're doing what we want. I also have PCOS but I've told my doctor that I'll try IUI a few more times before I try the next step. Maybe you should try the Infertility Support Group (Debbie 2336 3353) and see what they think is normal. Good Luck & I'd love to know your progress.

Hi - I am sorry I can't help the original poster, since I am just starting out on all of this - but I am scheduled to have an IUI soon. My doctor said I will either have an injection or tablet first. It sounds like a very straight-forward procedure, and he said there won't be any side effects from the injection/pills - has anyone found otherwise? I would be very grateful for anyones experiences of this. Thanks

Hi Oyster,
Honestly, I post here so seldomly I forget what id I put down so I just log in again under whatever it is I want to ask or respond to. I don't do it to be sneaky in any way- you have actually helped me with some of my questions and I really appreciate these boards.

No, but the more you research, he gets results. I'm prego right now because o fim, he isn't warm and fuzzy but he knows what he's doing, is empathetic and also chair of ivf at sanitrium; some say best in se asia- also alexander doo is in his practice, younger than leong, but so caring, always available and sharp too. Best of luck to you.

IUI is intrauterine insemination, when the sperm is washed and injected back into your uteras, following clomid or injections to produce a good egg/s
Milton Leong is tops, he is located in The Landmark bldg. not sure of ivf pricing, he does it at the Sanitorium Hospital

I have decided to undergo ivf treatment, and has been recommended to several doctors by my gyne, including Dr. Milton Leong. I was wondering whether you could tell me your opinion of Dr. Milton.

Dr Milton Leong charges $60,000 all up. Not cheap huh?

Excuse my ignorance, but what's IUI? I investigated IVF a while back and was shocked at the cost! Over $50,000! Where does Dr. Milton Leong practice and what does he charge? This is private o' course 'cos the waiting list is about a year right now.

I have been in the same situation and I think that I tried IUIs for too long......why not go for ivm/ivf which is both diagnostic and also provides a better probability of pregnancy.....why get frustated and come to it as a last resort

Hi All,
I have pcos myself however I was not yet advised for injections. Alternatively, my gyne has prescribed clomiphene (up to 100gm) which I had for 3mths but with no luck. My next choice is to go under surgery (Laprascopic Ovary Drilling - Wedge resection).
IVF - maybe you could ask ur gyne whether this would be an alternative? Is it $60,000 for IVF alone? that is rather expensive.
However, GOOD LUCK to everyone of US!!!

Hi Bebelim,
I just wanted to say that I have not tried IVF, however I have PCOS and a high FSH of 11.7. Have you asked your doctor about trying metformin? This might be worth a try because I was not ovulating at all and was then put on Metformin and the bcp. I am now 9 weeks pregnant on our first cycle off the bcp! I even had two doctors tell me that I may never get pregnant! I have been told that there have been studies that indicate that as many as 95% of non-ovulating women who take metformin will ovulate within 6 months. Metformin also decreases the risks of miscarriage once you are pregnant. I don't mean to sound like I'm selling the drug and it may not be right for you but I just figured that this could be an option to try before having IVF!! Good luck..
