My company provides a terrible medical plan through which covers virtually nothing. I tried to make inquiries for private insurance through a couple of brokers who tried to sell me international medical insurance plans which were between USD2-6K per year for my age (under 40).
I think this is outrageous and am only after a decent HK-only medical and dental plan. Does anyone have any advice on some decent local medical plans with dental? Is there a moratorium period before they will allow claims?
What is outrageous is what private hospitals and doctors charge in this town, the insurance costs only reflect what private medical costs are, US$ 2,000 is the starting point and I personally don't see how most of these insurers make any money at all, because I receive claims by the bucket full everyday and you need only make one visit to the hospital and the insurers are losing money.
If you would like more information on the plans, let me know
As a broker I know how expensive these international plans are. But as Christian says, it's all down to the private doctors and hospitals. We do offer local insurance plans, although the benefits are not nearly as good and extensive as the international plans.
If you need any additional information on medical plans, hopefully at Prudential we can offer the right plan to meet your needs. I'm curious to know, if you don't mind answering, is what sort of package are they offering or should I say given you?
