my wife and I just returned from South East Asia. We went on adventure that included very very bumpy ride on jeep on rocks. my wife was sitting on the back seat the ride lasted 20 min as soon she got off the jeep. she had sharp back pain in her lower back meaning whole back strip. Now she she can not even bend of sit. She has seen doctor who gave her just pain killer. Does anyone had this expereince and what could be cause. your comments will be appreciated.
Pain killers? OMG! It's a bad doctor who does not look to treat the underlying problem. It could be a problem with the coccyx or the soft tissue surrounding it. See another doctor, ask for x-rays (in case cracked/hairline fracture). If x-rays show nothing, request a referral to a physio.
It sounds as if the problem cannot be sorted out by a chiropractor or a 'massage'. In fact, it could make the problem far worse.
It sounds like the she has inflamation which has spread to the surrounding area. Use ice pack or heat pack on the area for at least 30mins a day if pain. Keep back supported by sitting only on a dining chair not a sofa. Walk around not lie or sit all day. Keep active without putting strain on the back. try not to bend and rest the back till pain/inflamation goes should do so in a few days with rest. Having a warm soak in the bath sometimes helps. The painkiller help bring down inflamation which causes pain. The ice/heat do the same.
1. Do NOT go to a Chiropractor
2. Do NOT get massage.
go to a real and decent doctor who is familiar with musculo-skeletal issues.
It could well be inflammation which causes muscular spasm (i.e. the sharp pain) which causes more localised inflammation which causes more muscular spasms, which causes....it is a feedback loop really,
Anti-inflammatory medication (Voltarin aint bad if your guts aren’t too sensitive) in conjunction with a muscle relaxant (non-prescription drugs may not be good enough – plus most of the good stuff here is addictive hence prescription medication).
Yeah, rubs are good, but consider Voltarin in gel form for this.
