I went to a acupucturist last weekend. A friend of mine recommended her. but it was painful and I got really bad bruises on my legs and thigh, and everywhere she put a needle, i have a swollen red spot.
When properly done, one should not feel any pain when the needle is put in to the acupressure point. Especially if you are a first timer, a properly trained practitioner would be more caring and observant with his/her patient, always check if the patient is comfortable with the needle(s) in and if the patient is feeling any unusual sensation.
Immediately after an acupuncture session, one should always rest for at least 10 to 15 minutes. No heavy bags should be carried. No exercise for at least a few hours.
Pain and bruises are very unusual. No bleeding should have occurred.
If you don't mind me asking, what was your reason for getting acupuncture?
I truly believe in accupuncture but have to say, the finest I have been to were white male American practitioners. I have found no one here that has the healing touch for me.
Bruising can happen but it is obnoxious and I have only had one bad experience with it. I had a huge black hickey type bruise on my forhead above my nose that freaked me out ! I stopped going to the woman.
