Hunting for Sports Physiotherapist in Macau/Hong Kong

Posted by oletliv (452 days ago)
I am a physiotherapist's nightmare. A former national fencer with a body riddled with injuries, some common & some rare, that flare up every so often. I am relocating to Macau in mid-May and would like to know if anyone can recommend one or more physiotherapists preferably in Macau (if not, then in Hong Kong) who specializes in sports-related injuries.
Back home, I usually find that different physios specialize in different joints and would particularly like to get recommendations for physios who specialize in one or more of the following:
1. lower back
2. knee
3. ankle
4. hand/wrist
Having gone through numerious physios and spent years in injuries management & prevention, I'm particular about having physios who personally follow through all rehab procedures and not palm off their patients to an assistant after diagnosis, and preferably have access to a well-equipped rehab gym and able to prescribe functional rehab exercises.
Please also advise on the charges for physiotherapy in Macau/HK.
Also, is there a supplier for physiotherapy products, e.g. Leuko Sports Tape in Macau/HK? I need them in bulk as I run through 1 roll every 1-2 weeks!
Thanks heaps.

Have been thru around six operations myself in HK to repair knee ligaments, shoulders and more, all sports related injuries.
Have had my fair share of physios in the past few years.
There's alot of physios to choose from so look around. Have not heard of any in Macau. Personally, I recommend you try Justin Faulkner as he is the HK Rugby 7s team physio and specialises in sports injuries. He knows his stuff and doesnt mess you around or palm you off to an assistant. Charges $650 a session and I don't think you can get an experienced sports physio for less than $500-600 now.
Justin is the senior guy at PhysioCentral, 12/f The Centrium, Central.
Good luck

I've had a string of knee injuries and a neck injury, and Aggie has got me going again every time. She works at a sports injury clinic, with the main office in Central. She's at the Quarry Bay office. She knows her stuff. Costs $600 a visit. Phone 31595252.

I would recommend Aggie as well, although I think she is off at the moment after surgery. The others at sports performance are equally as good, either in Central (2521 6380) or Quarry bay as postd above.

Thank you very much for all the recommendations. I definitely hope I would never need to visit one but i'll definitely check out the recommended physios should the need arises.

Most physiotherapists in Macau are young and trained in Taiwan. I guess there is only one sports physiotherapist just graduated from overseas.
I suggest you better come over to Hong Kong for your treatment. You may consider Margaret TANG in Cental (tel. 2522 3211); she is a very capable. Another option, Vibration Therapy Institute (www.vti.hk), specialised in Hyper-Gravity Stimulation Training. A new therapeutic training technique which is good a number of chronic sports injuries. The centre is managed by an experienced local sports physiotherapist.
