I want to have a common hobby with my bf
Posted by insane (444 days ago)
Hey girls..
The stuff me and my bf doing togther on the wkends
- Read
- Going to the gym
- Eat
- Watch Movie...
- clubbing...
But these days we are not really into clubbing really late anymore. (Maybe we got older and got a little boring!...) I hurt my knee last yr so we totally stopped playing squash, which is so sad coz we both are crazy about it.
I wanna have a common hobby with my bf again - anyone can suggest somthing we can do together without hurting my knee? Of course i love to do sports but i understand there are not many things i can do huh?

Is there any treatment you can have for your knee so that you can do some sports again? Maybe not squash, but hiking, golf driving range, running... If you really enjoy sport that much, do whatever you need to do so that you can play sport again.
Or what about just getting out and about? Explore some different areas of HK. Are you interested in photography - try taking some interesting photos and editing them on the computer.
Do you have any friends that aren't into clubbing - go out with them (or invite them round for dinner). Just because you no longer like clubbing doesn't mean you're boring. I don't consider myself boring and I've never liked clubbing!

how bad is your knee?
Hiking is a low impact exercise and takes up a lot of time too.

Photography... you could shoot eachother and go on photo outings together.
Music... write/record a song together on the computer (movie "Music and Lyrics").
Art... join a pottery class (movie "Ghost").
Sport/outdoors... cycling, horseback riding, rowing (join a co-ed dragon boat team)...

My suggestion would be to stay at home and engage in some physical therapy of the bedroom aerobics nature… after all isn’t that why folks have a partner? And really what better hobby could thee both doth desire? Enjoy and you could always combine it with some of the above suggestions…

I have a rebuilt ACL and collapsed arches. I cycle. My mountain bike set me free. I love it and no impact on my arches or my knees (unless i get crazy and huck off of large objects) Still its great fun and will not bother your knee IF your frame is sized right and your seat is in the right position.
I bought my wife a bike and she comes with me and loves it too.
Great thing to do together and it keeps you fit and in shape for that other favorite couples past time.

The New Territories? Lol...
Well, anywhere actually...my colleague goes cycling all the way from Kennedy Town to Shek O...so like I said, anywhere if you have nerves of steel.

Photography is major fun, and it can be artistic, naughty, or both at the same time. Can even be profitable, and expand into your other hobbies.
There are classes and clubs, but it helps if you simply find someone to teach you the ropes, or even research on the internet.

Insane,
I actually live 1 hour south of Seattle, WA in USA, not tecnically an expat but I have an apartment in GZ because i spend about two months of the year (spread into around 6 two week trips) there working with our factory. Im a shoe designer.
I haven't brought my bike over or picked one up in China yet. We ride in USA, wife doesnt come to China w me.
I used to live in South Florida right between Miami and Fort Lauderdale though, VERY URBAN in setting and we rode all the time there too. Street/sidewalk riding. Im more crazy than her so I would jump and play on or over urban obstacles, high curbs, parking stops, low walls, etc. But we didnt have any trouble finding good riding in city environments or now out in the country. Many parks in the US also have mountain biking trail sections.
If you road ride only you will want a different sort of bike than mine. I have a nice light weight hardtail, ie no suspension on back but a good fork shock- this a good option to do both on and off road riding with. And do pay attention to traffic and things. Your safety is in your own hands in traffic. I have a very nice lighting system, super bright and its rechargable, the battery pack goes in a bottle cage. I can blind oncoming trucks with this thing. I use it to light my way of course but really its so everyone can see where I am. Some times I use reflective tape or a cycling jersey with reflective on my back too.
PS anyone know where a nice bike shop in GZ is? The only ones Ive been in sell craptastically heavy low budget jobs. Im not feeling like I need to drop the kind of cash on a china bike that I have on my home ride but Id love a nice exercise number to ride some laps each night around Clifford.

me and my bf play golf, we cycle, we also went to painting classes and now go walking and spend some time painting or sketching. we also have an interest in architecture and go looking for interesting buildings to draw. go to museums or art galleries and learn more about HK history. there are lots of things you could do if you sat down and thought about it, you`ll also be amazed that you might get into something you thought you never would and really enjoy it.

There's a pottery place attached to the Fringe Club that has classes - look up the Fringe Club web site and there's a link there.
If you have a camera, you can do photography! Lots of info available on the web. I've seen a couple of camera clubs advertised in HK magazine as well.

Hey thanks for ur inputs!
How about painting classes? I just checked with my bf he said he doesn't really like pottery so i may just learn it myself..But he is interested doing painting tho. ;-)
So im thinkin we may join classes together but are there classes for adults? Like Oil Painting?
Many thanks

Oil painting is really quite technical and isn`t something you can do in a few hours to get satisfactory results, look into water colours this is much easier as a starting point, I`m sure there will be water colour classes somewhere in HK, maybe a college or even a private tutor. Its very satisfying to finish a painting, even if its not quite Michelangelo its still something YOU did and you can be proud of it.
