People bring laptops in and out of VN all the time without a hitch. No doubt the tax laws exist to hit you with a duty, but I have not heard of anyone having any problems. I have brought my personal laptop in and out of VN probably a dozen or more times over the years without any problems (to date).
.im moving to vietnam in a few weeks on an employment pass/ permit...i want to bring my fiance as well..is it easy to get a "dependants" no-work visa for her ?
There are two people and two laptops - what is the problem? Laptops are readily available here, it is not like they are a rare item .
I came on my spouse's work permit - the employer and embassy arranged everything, I just came. I subsequently got employment locally and the VN authorities had no problem with that either.
cool....ah 2 laptops are mine and she has one...so 3...hope they dont freak out too much...so it shouldnt be too difficult to get her a long stay visa huh?
Forget about computers. The VN Customs tariff allows you to bring in technology - only in the case of large frame (main) computers they stipulate they must be new.
Your fiancée will have to get a job offer then the employer can contact the ministry of the interior to convert your visa - always assuming she doesn't have a residence permit, in which case she is free to work.
