Hi everyone, is there anyone here that has started an FCI company, if so would it be possible to give me an overview on the realities. I have viewed the government website and all looks very pretty, too pretty. I presently own a trading and manufacturing company in Indonesia and am seriously looking at moving our operation to HCM. I will be spending an extensive amount of time researching Vietnam at the end of the year but need coal face information. Please please any information will be gratefully accepted.
Hi BJS, thanks for the reply, I have already gone through this website and a lot of others. But I am after coal face information. In other words the realities of Foreign Investment. We already have FDI company in Indonesia and wish we did not initally rely on all the offical information channels and should have spoken first hand with people who are doing it. Which is why I would really appreciate anyone who has gone through the process in a hands on manner.....just to offload a little of the realities on setting up a business in Vietnam. I really appreciate any help any of you can pass on.
You may like to check out the new website set up by Phillips Fox Vietnam which contains in english a lot of the relevant laws

it was a nightmare for us - our joint venture license (which supposedly takes 14 days) took 8 months to process.
Countless under the table payments, and it is still going on, more bureaucracy and red tape than you can see over.
despite the headlines that run every day about improving investment climate, streamlining, making easier etc etc, i can tell you it was an extremely time consuming and frustrating process for our joint venture small business.
