Renting an apartment in HCM

Hey peeps! I'll be posted to HCM in mid-May for work. Not getting full-expat terms though and i need to look for an apartment. What is rental like for a decent-looking studio-apartment?

thanks for all the information. meanwhile, my boss has just rented a place at phu my hung for 3 months. i'm gonna crash there for a while until i find something more suitable.

thanks for your info! i will be in vietnam next week but my stay will only be for a week. Tentatively, i think i will be over for good sometime in mid-May 2004.

MrXXX - you were saying that i can get quite a good apartment for that price? are we talking about a service-apartment with swimming pools and tennis courts? i wrote an email to somerset court who quoted US$2000+. quite shocking cos i can actually rent a luxurious condominium in singapore for the same price...
