Can someone please tell me what mobile system Vietnam uses. Will I be able to use the phone I have I have in Australian with a Vietnamese SIM card? Who is the best company to sign up with?

I brought a second hand mobile in VN for 500,000d (50AUD) it wasnt very good though and would be better to bring one from Australia. If you want to SMS home then bring your Australian SIM with you, as you cant SMS overseas with MobiPhone.

Sims in VN cost 150,000d (450,000 for a sim with 300,000d credit). Most are prepaid. You can get good deals though - I paid 320,000 d and got 450,000d credit... look around.

I need to buy a mobile phone too, so I'd be interested in knowing which companies are best. I may buy the phone in Bangkok (cheaper?) and the SIM card in VN.
