Rooms for rent in HCMC

I am arriving in HCMC on the 14th July for 6 - 12 months and I was looking for advice in relation to a cheap (but reasonable) room to rent. Can I hope to get one - on a long term basis for (say) $7 or $8 US per night? I would like to be close to District 1.
