Purchasin a property in Thailand

Hi,

I am currently in the process of purchasing a property in Thailand and I have a number of agreements/contracts that need to be signed.

Does anyone know of a lawyer in Hong Kong that could take a look at the agreements/contracts and ensure they are as they should be??

The laws may have changed, but it was my understanding that foreigners are not allowed to own property.

So if you are doing this through a Thai girlfriend/wife/friend be very, very careful because this is the number 1 trap.

Of course, you probably already know this so I will just go back to my corner now. :)

Foreighners are allowed to own properties like Condos, but not allowed to own land. But you can lease the land legally for 33years with an option of another 33 years.

You should retain a Thai lawyer to review the documents and also do title search on the property, etc. I can probably recommend a Thai conveyancing lawyer to you if you need one - just PM me.
