australian dependant visa

i am applying for a student visa for australia and i have had a look at the australian immigration website but is not clear whether the dependant visa will be approved along my student visa because I can apply for my student visa and dependant visa on the same form. i am recently married and would like to take my hubby with me so please help!!!

Try calling the Australian Consulate in Wanchai and get the definitive answer direct. It will probably be quicker and more to the point than waiting for responses here and then sorting through the inevitable different sets of advice. I could guess myself as I've been down the DV path myself before but cannot remember - plus the rules might have changed since then. Good luck.

Sorry, back again (had to attend to the baby)...for what it's worth I thought you can only apply for - and hold - one visa at a time. If you haod a DV you don't need a SV because those rights come with it. But not the other way round.
