Philippines visa

I live and work in HK with a Canadian Passport and will be engaged on a conulting assignment in the Philippines.

I will travel back and forth weekly.

I am being told that I cannot apply for a multiple entry work visa as a first time applicant. All the rules that I find for business visas and work permit apply if you are being employed by a philippines company, where in my case I will continue to maintain employment and residence.

The Philippines consulate has been very unhelpful. Any help would be super!

The following link might be of some help. It says "Nationals of...[list includes Canada]...who are travelling to the Philippines for business...purposes are allowed to enter the Philippines without visas for a stay not exceeding 21 days...". Good luck. My experience is such that the Philippines is one of those countries where you could do with some good luck when dealing with officialdom.

If you are a Hong Kong PR, you can apply for the APEC Business Travel Card.
